_**Kryterion strongly recommends use of a non-work related or personal computer for online proctored (OLP) exams.**_

  

In order to participate in an OLP exam, you must download and install the provided Secure Browser software. This may require administrator privileges in your system. Those administrative user privileges may not be available in corporate networks. This is why we ask you to use _a non-work related or personal computer for online proctored exams._

**Virtual machines:**

*   Virtual machines are not permitted and should not be used to take an online exam.

  

# **Windows** **Requirements:**

  
**Hardware:**

*   A minimum of 50 MB available space
*   Screen resolution of 1024 × 768 or greater
*   Webcam and microphone (external webcams must be USB)
*   An English (QWERTY) keyboard

**Software:**

*   Windows 10
*   Windows 11
*   The latest version of Google Chrome or Firefox 

**Macintosh System Requirements:**  
 

**Hardware:**

*   A minimum of 50 MB available space
*   Screen resolution of 1024 × 768 or greater
*   Webcam and microphone (external webcams must be USB)
*   An English (QWERTY) keyboard

**Software:** 

*   Recent Mac version or newer (macOS 12+).
*   The latest version of Google Chrome or Firefox 

**Chromebook Requirements:  
**

If your certification program supports the use of Chromebooks with our secure browser, your device must be on the Supported Chromebook list. List: [https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6220366?hl=en](https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6220366?hl=en)

**Hardware:**

  

*   Screen resolution of 1024 × 768 or greater
*   Webcam and microphone (external webcams must be USB)
*   An English (QWERTY) keyboard

 

**Software:**

*   The latest version of Google Chrome
*   Login to your Webassessor account to download the secure browser

**Additional Considerations:**  
  
For best performance, if your security software lets you “allow” Respondus, you should do so. If using a work computer, ask your system administrator for help in managing your system settings.  
  
In some cases, you may find it necessary to disable some programs to successfully launch Respondus and avoid interference with your online proctored (OLP) exam delivery. These may include, but are not limited to pop-up blockers, antivirus software, firewalls, VMWare/Bootcamp, Skype, Photobooth, and TeamViewer. 

  

**Updating the Secure Browser**  
  
If your Secure Browser is out of date, you may see a message indicating that an update is required before you can launch your exam. 

If prompted, close the Secure Browser and follow these steps: 

1.  Log in to your Webassessor account. 
2.  Navigate to the My Assessments page. 
3.  Click Install Secure Browser. 
4.  Select Reinstall, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. 
5.  Once the installation is complete, relaunch your exam.

**Internet Connection Requirements:**

*   Minimum Download: 1.0 Mbps 
*   Minimum Upload: 1.0 Mbps 
*   Your system's download speed should equal or exceed the upload speed for optimal operation. If it doesn't, reboot your modem and router. 
*   Ping should be under 200ms
*   Jitter should be under 50ms
