Your test sponsor may require a dual camera setup for your online proctored exam to enhance exam security by allowing proctors to monitor both you and your testing environment simultaneously.

## **What is Dual Camera Proctoring?**

Dual camera proctoring uses your computer's built-in or external webcam as the primary camera, which focuses on your face and eyes. In addition, you will use your mobile phone or tablet as a secondary camera to provide a wide-angle view of your workspace, desk, and surrounding area. This setup helps the proctors secure the area by ensuring no unauthorized materials or individuals are present and provides a view of your lap and hands.

## **Required Hardware and Software**

* **Primary Camera**: A **built-in internal camera** or a **USB camera** connected to your computer.
    * Minimum requirements: Video resolution of 720p with a frame rate of 30 fps.
* **Secondary Camera**: A compatible **mobile device** or **USB camera (this option is only applicable if enabled by your test sponsor)**.
    *   Supported Operating Systems:
        * Android OS: 13 to 16 (or the latest version)
        * iOS: 16 to 18 (or the latest version)
    * Minimum requirements: Camera resolution of 720p with a frame rate of 30 fps.
* **Browser**: Google Chrome (recommended and fully supported). Users on Firefox or Safari may experience compatibility issues, such as problems with camera pairing or system checks.
* **Internet**: Stable Wi-Fi connection for both your computer and mobile device. Avoid using cellular data, as it may drop unexpectedly causing an interruption during your exam.

## **Setup Instructions**

To address common setup challenges and provide clearer guidance, follow these detailed steps. We recommend testing your setup in advance using the [Exam Readiness feature in Webassessor](https://support.kryterion.com/en_us/how-to-launch-an-online-proctored-(olp)-exam-Byr5BLJi1e). Remember to use Google Chrome as your browser for the best experience.

1. **Prepare Your Workspace**:

    * Clear your desk of notes, books, extra devices, or any unauthorized materials.
    * Ensure your testing area is quiet, well-lit (avoid backlighting or glare), and free from interruptions. Close doors and inform others not to enter.
    * Place your computer in a stable position on a flat surface.

2. **Prepare Your Mobile Device**:

    * Fully charge your phone or tablet to last the entire exam duration (consider plugging it in if possible).
    * Close all unnecessary applications to preserve battery life and prevent notifications.
    * Turn on _Do Not Disturb_ or _silent_ mode to prevent receiving incoming calls that could disconnect the camera.
    * Disable auto-lock or screen timeout to prevent the device from locking during the exam, which could disconnect the camera.

3. **During Exam Check-In**:

    * Launch the exam on your computer via the Kryterion Webassessor platform using **Chrome**.
    * Complete the initial system checks for your primary camera, microphone, and internet.
    * When prompted for the secondary camera, scan the QR code displayed on your exam screen using your mobile device's camera app. This will link your device and open a browser window on your phone.
    * When prompted, select “allow camera & microphone access” on your device.
    * Position your mobile device away from you on a stable stand, tripod, or stable surface.
        * It should capture a wide-angle view of your desk, keyboard, hands, computer screen, and workspace. Ensure you are visible in the frame with the camera view extending slightly over your shoulder and capturing the computer screen and your hands.
    * Adjust the angle to show your face, hands, and environment clearly, like framing a photo.
        * Note: A support team member may request adjustments via chat during check-in.
    * Please follow any on-screen or proctor instructions for final adjustments.

4. **Complete Pre-Checks**:

    * Once both cameras are paired and positioned, confirm that the feeds are active and clear.
    * Do not move or adjust either camera during the exam to avoid interruptions or potential disruptions.

## **Instructional Video**

It demonstrates the QR code scanning, positioning, and key tips.

## **Best Practices**

* Test your entire setup (including QR scanning) in a Readiness Exam prior to your exam.
* Use a phone stand or tripod to prevent movement, avoid handheld or unstable placements.
* Keep both cameras active, capturing live videos of you throughout the exam.
* If you encounter issues, live proctor help is available during check-in and during your exam via chat. They can troubleshoot in real-time to get you back into your exam.

## **Troubleshooting Common Issues**

Based on candidate feedback, here are solutions for frequent problems. **Note:** a camera disconnecting during the exam will interrupt and pause the session until reconnected, potentially affecting your exam time and sometimes requiring the exam to be rescheduled.

**Setup Issues (e.g., QR Code Scanning or Pairing)**:

* Ensure your mobile device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network,
* If scanning fails, manually enter the provided URL into your mobile browser.
* Verify that you're using Google Chrome on your computer; switch from Firefox or Safari if experiencing compatibility issues.

**Camera Disconnection or Freezing**:

* Check battery levels and plug your device into a power source if possible.
* Ensure no applications are running in the background that could interfere
* Confirm auto-lock is disabled on your mobile device, as screen locking can cause disconnections.

**Browser Compatibility Issues**:

* If using Firefox or Safari, switch to Google Chrome, as it is the officially supported browser. Issues may include failed camera detection, QR code errors, or interrupted feeds.

**Other Issues (e.g., Lighting or Proficiency Check)**:

* Adjust room lighting to avoid shadows or glare on your face/screen.
* If escalated, contact Kryterion Customer Support via live chat for policy-specific help.
